For those accustomed to traditional hot wings, the idea of “vegetarian wings made with cauliflower” might raise an eyebrow. But trust us, dear readers, on this culinary journey. You are about to fall head over heels for these Asian-inspired Glazed Cauliflower Wings, especially when enrobed in the irresistible P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Teriyaki Sauce. It’s a game-changer that combines health-conscious cooking with an explosion of authentic flavor.

Our profound affection for hot wings is thoroughly documented. Whether deep-fried and slathered in a fiery Buffalo sauce or coated in a sticky honey-soy glaze, chicken wings have always held a special place in our hearts. Living in close proximity to Buffalo, the self-proclaimed wing capital of the world, has naturally cultivated a discerning palate for these delights. Over the years, we’ve become quite particular, demanding the perfect ratio of sauce to wing, a texture that’s neither overly greasy nor disappointingly dry, and a harmonious balance of spicy and sweet notes.

Yes, we admit it – we’re high-maintenance when it comes to wings. So, when we declare that this vegetarian rendition of wings is the real deal, know that we speak from a place of genuine expertise and passion. These crispy cauliflower florets, glazed with a captivating sauce made from P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Teriyaki Sauce, a touch of honey (or agave for our strictly vegan friends), fresh garlic, and aromatic ginger, absolutely captivated our entire family. It’s a testament to their deliciousness that even our son, who jokingly refers to himself as “90% carnivore, 10% omnivore,” found these meat-free wings irresistibly tasty, eagerly reaching for more.

Cauliflower wings have steadily gained popularity on restaurant menus for several years, and we’ve been eager to perfect our homemade version. While our household certainly enjoys its share of meat, we also cherish our vegetarian friends and family members. Crafting a meal that can delight everyone at the table is always a welcome achievement, and these Teriyaki Cauliflower Wings do just that.

Mastering the Art of Cauliflower Wings: A Simple Recipe

Cauliflower emerges as an exceptional choice for vegetarian wings due to its remarkable versatility and texture. It’s robust enough to withstand battering and baking, yet transforms into a wonderfully tender and, dare we say, juicy bite once cooked. This transformation often mirrors the satisfying texture typically associated with deep-fried chicken, making it an ideal canvas for bold flavors. When brainstorming innovative ways to feature the exquisite P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Teriyaki Sauce in our dinner repertoire, the concept of pairing it with oven-“fried” cauliflower immediately came to mind.

The result is a dish of simply incredible, delightfully crunchy, and sublimely sticky baked Cauliflower Wings, all thanks to that rich ginger and garlic teriyaki glaze. The convenience factor for this recipe is equally impressive. We sourced all the necessary ingredients effortlessly from Walmart using Walmart’s Online Grocery service. This means you can place your order online and have dedicated shoppers gather your items while you’re busy with work or other commitments. All that’s left for you is a quick drive to the parking lot, where your groceries are brought out to your car – a truly seamless and stress-free shopping experience.

The Genius of Baked Vegetarian Wings: No Frying, All Flavor

Perhaps the most appealing aspect of these delectable cauliflower wings is their cooking method: they’re baked! Absolutely no frying is required. While we wholeheartedly appreciate the indulgence of battered and deep-fried vegetables (our Chicken Fried Eggplant recipe stands as a testament to this), acknowledging them as one of life’s simple pleasures, we also recognize the practicalities of home cooking.

The truth is, traditional frying, especially when preparing wings, can be quite labor-intensive and undeniably messy. When faced with a platter of gloriously sticky teriyaki-glazed wings, the last thing anyone wants to contemplate is a lengthy kitchen cleanup. By opting to bake the cauliflower first and then generously coating it with the prepared sauce, dinner preparation becomes a fuss-free affair. This method ensures maximum flavor with minimal mess, allowing you to focus on enjoying every single bite rather than scrubbing pots and pans.

With this baking technique, your only real challenge will be figuring out how to fit as many of these irresistibly delicious cauliflower wings onto your plate as humanly possible! As an added benefit, baking the cauliflower also results in a lighter, less greasy wing compared to its fried counterparts. This thoughtful approach ensures that every single floret is perfectly coated in that exquisite, sweet, and savory teriyaki sauce, delivering a burst of incredible flavor with each satisfying mouthful.

Pro Tips for Perfect Teriyaki Cauliflower Wings

To truly elevate your cauliflower wing experience, consider these essential cook’s notes. The addition of red pepper flakes introduces a subtle, delightful heat that beautifully complements the inherent sweetness of the teriyaki sauce, creating a complex and balanced flavor profile. However, if your palate is sensitive to spice, feel free to either omit the red pepper flakes entirely or use them very sparingly to suit your preference.

For optimal crispiness and flavor, these wings are undeniably best enjoyed immediately after they are prepared. The fresh-from-the-oven crunch and the warm, sticky glaze are truly unparalleled. Should you find yourself with the delightful problem of leftovers, simply store them in an airtight container or wrapped tightly in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to enjoy them again, you can easily reheat and recrisp the wings. A few minutes in a preheated oven will bring back their desirable texture, or if you’re lucky enough to own an air fryer, it provides an equally excellent method for quick and effective reheating, ensuring your wings are almost as good as fresh.

The Secret Ingredient: P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Teriyaki Sauce

At the heart of these sensational cauliflower wings lies a truly exceptional ingredient: the P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Teriyaki Sauce. This is no ordinary bottled sauce; it’s a carefully crafted culinary gem designed specifically with home cooks in mind. What sets this sauce apart is its unique blend of flavors, drawing its delightful sweetness from real pineapple juice and featuring sake, an authentic Japanese rice wine. These premium ingredients work in harmony to bring the sophisticated, vibrant flavors of your favorite Chinese restaurant directly to your kitchen table, transforming everyday meals into extraordinary dining experiences.

Its versatility is impressive; the sauce tastes wonderful served straight out of the bottle, whether as a glaze for chicken or pork, a delectable dipping sauce, or a flavorful base for nearly any stir-fry creation. However, when combined with the warmth of honey, the pungent kick of fresh garlic, and the zesty aroma of ginger, it transforms into one of the most irresistible wing sauces we’ve ever had the pleasure of creating. For maximum convenience, remember that you can easily purchase P.F. Chang’s Home Menu sauces through Walmart Online Grocery, ensuring you always have this culinary essential on hand.

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray or oil for the pan
  • 1 small head cauliflower (broken into roughly even, bite-sized florets)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (gluten-free one-for-one can be used)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
  • ¾ cup unseasoned panko bread crumbs (divided)
  • cup mild honey
  • cup P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Teriyaki Sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic (peeled and minced or pressed, or 1 teaspoon garlic paste)
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger or ginger paste

Optional, but tasty:

  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Thinly sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with heavy-duty foil, dull side facing up. Lightly spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray or brush it with a thin layer of oil. Evenly sprinkle ½ cup of the panko crumbs onto the prepared pan and set aside.
  2. In a spacious mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, water, kosher salt, and granulated garlic until the mixture is completely smooth and free of lumps. Add the cauliflower florets into the bowl and gently toss them until they are thoroughly coated with the batter. Using a slotted spoon, carefully transfer the coated cauliflower to the prepared baking pan, arranging them over the panko crumbs. Scatter the remaining panko bread crumbs over the cauliflower and toss gently to ensure an even coating. Finally, spread the florets out on the pan so that there is ample space for air to circulate around each piece during baking, promoting crispiness.
  3. Bake the cauliflower for 25-30 minutes, or until the florets are tender when pierced, the coating is visibly set, and the panko crumbs have achieved a beautiful deep golden-brown color in several spots, indicating perfect crispness.
  4. While the cauliflower bakes, prepare the sticky teriyaki glaze. In a large skillet, combine the mild honey, P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Teriyaki Sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and – if you desire a touch of heat – the crushed red pepper flakes. Place the skillet over high heat and bring the mixture to a rapid boil, stirring occasionally. Once the cauliflower is baked to perfection, transfer the crispy florets directly into the hot skillet with the sauce. Toss gently but thoroughly to ensure every piece of cauliflower is beautifully coated in the rich, sticky glaze. Serve immediately, garnished with thinly sliced green onions for a fresh, aromatic finish.
  5. Should you have any delectable leftovers, store them tightly wrapped in the refrigerator. To reheat and restore their crispiness, you can briefly warm them in a 350°F (175°C) oven on a greased and foil-covered cookie sheet, or quickly crisp them up in an air fryer.
